What form of investment is acceptable? The Law (LN288) mentions an investment of €250,000 in Government bonds and stocks.

The Qualifying Investment will consist of Government Stocks, equivalent to €250,000 (Market Value).

Can an applicant open an account in Malta?

An applicant may open an account at his/her discretion.

What is the procedure for buying the Qualifying Investment?

We, as your agents, will put you in touch with a qualified stock broker and/or banking institution.

After the initial 5 years, with regard to the qualifying investment, can the Beneficiary sell the bonds and still hold a Maltese Residence Card?

Yes, he/she can sell the qualifying investment after 5 years and still retain a Maltese Residence Card on condition that he/she maintains an address in Malta.

Is the Beneficiary required to retain an investment portfolio for longer than 5 years?

No.

Can the Applicant take a loan to buy the Qualifying Investment?

Yes.
