Is a Beneficiary under the programme able to work in Malta?

Yes, but only with a work permit which has to be applied for separately.

How can the Beneficiary and/or dependants apply for a work permit?

The Beneficiary and/or dependants can apply for a work permit by submitting an application for a ‘single work permit’ through the normal channels. We can help with this.

Can the Beneficiary and/or dependants apply to open up a business in Malta?

Yes. We can help you with this.

Can the Main Applicant and/or their dependants benefit from special rates of tax and other tax residence programmes available in Malta?

Not automatically, but we can provide you with detailed tax advice and guidance.

Is a dependant child under 18 entitled to free education whilst residing in Malta? If so, does this apply to primary, secondary and tertiary (i.e. University) education?

No, under the MRVP a minor is not entitled to free education. However, if the Main Applicant acquires a work permit, his/her children would be entitled to free primary and secondary education in a state-funded government school.

Can Beneficiaries work in an EU country under the MRVP?

The MRVP does not grant the Beneficiary any employment rights. Therefore, he/she will need to apply for a work permit in Malta or elsewhere in the Schengen Area
