Malta Gaming Authority introduces new regulations for Skill Games

02.02.2017

On Tuesday 24th January 2017, following the publication of Legal Notice 31 of 2017 entitled Skill Games Regulations, 2017, (the "Regulations") new regulations applicable to skill games have been published. The Regulations provide that all skill games organised in Malta, provided from the territory of Malta or promoted or offered to persons in Malta shall be regulated with the burden of proving that an activity is a skill game resting on the party operating or promoting such an activity.

The Malta Gaming Authority, (the "Authority”) is vested with the governance and regulation of the skill gaming sector and the Regulations provide it with the discretion to classify an activity as a skill game or otherwise.
